 Victor Lewis Accepts Teaching Position at County Junior College

Victor Lewis of Malakoff, former member of the Malakoff High School faculty, has accepted a teaching position as head of the social science department in the Henderson County Junior College at Athens. Announcement of Lewis’ acceptance was made last week by the college president, Orval Pirtle.

Mr. Lewis, formerly of Corsicana, is a graduate of the East Texas State Teacher’s College at Commerce, where he received his B. S. degree in 1936 and an M. S. degree in 1940. His college major was history and his minor physical education.

An athlete, having lettered in track and football while a student at East Texas State, Mr. Lewis has also been assigned the duties of assistant coach at the Junior College, to assist in football and track.

Mr. Lewis taught school from 1936 to 1943 and then spent three years in the military service as a navigator aboard PBMs. He received his discharge from the service in February, 1946 and was a member of the teaching faculty of the Malakoff schools at the time he accepted the college position.
