From The Malakoff News

Roy Bedichek
Chief of the Interscholastic League Bureau

Vernon Whitehead, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Whitehead of this city, received a beautiful pin this week from Mr. Roy Bedichek, Chief of the Interscholastic League Bureau at Austin, for having made a grade of 100 percent in the statewide Music Memory Contest.

There were only a very small number of boys and girls over the state to make this high grade, and Vernon is to be congratulated upon his fine achievement.

  1. Is he our Mr. Whitehead who lived in Malakoff all his life? He was some sort of law officer. Margie Smith would know because he was her uncle. So would Barbara Rogers because she was married to his son.

    • Related to Truman Whitehead…as I recall…but not Truman Cicero Whitehead…who was the Whitehead we knew. Truman was the son of Johnnie E. Whitehead and Emily Mae Gentry…he was born 31 March, 1908…
