Malakoff Girl Enters Miss Henderson County Pageant

Miss Betty Brannon, student at Lon Morris College and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Brannon of Malakoff, according to the Athens Daily Review, is the first entry in this year’s Miss Henderson County pageant. The event is sponsored each year by Athens Junior Chamber of commerce.
Miss Brannon, a native of the community, is a young lady of many qualities. She is a graduate of Malakoff High School and has had special training in organ and piano. She won first place as best actress in district one-act play contest; first in missionary tour. She was drum major at Malakoff High for three years and served as organist at the Methodist Church for a 5-year period. At Lon Morris College, where she has been a student for the past year, she served as president of Tau Sigma Music Club; treasurer of Zeta Theta Gamma, and was included in “Who’s Who” section of the school annual.
In addition to these accomplishments, Miss Brannon was president of the Methodist Fellowship for two years and sub-district treasurer for a 2-year period.
While in high school, she turned to athletics and in addition to lettering two years in basketball, she was named on the second team of all district.
Miss Brannon is 5-8 ¾, weighs 135, and measures 36-25½-38. She has brown hair and eyes and an olive complexion. As her special hobbies, she mentioned golf and swimming.
