  1. Not sure, probably something to use in the kiln. I am still proud to this very day that my Daddy was actually FIRED from the brick yard sometime after this photo for trying to form a UNION to get better wages for the employees of Texas Clay. I get my rebellious nature from this great man. He was willing to put his own job on the line for the rights of ALL the employees at the Brick Yard. Thank you Daddy. You made me proud of you all my life! I hope I did the same for you.

  2. I am interested in seeing more photos and stories of the brick plant, workers and bricks that were made in Malakoff. Interesting history…….

    • Dear Ms. Meacham,

I’ll be happy to post more about the brick plant and its history. I have more photos and when I come across articles from the old issues of The Malakoff News or other sources, I will certainly post them.
By the way, I swear I saw a friend request from you on FB just now, but perhaps I was mistaken. I do appreciate your interest in Malakoff and in “Looking Back at The Lignite City – A Page from the Past of Malakoff, Texas.”
If you have photos, articles, etc. about Malakoff, I surely would like to use them as part of preserving the history of Malakoff.

      With kind regards,
      Britt Thompson
