The Malakoff Rotary Club, in a civic benefit entertainment, will present David Dodd in an organ concert on Saturday evening, May 11th, at the High School Auditorium. This special program, featuring a native son, born and reared in this community, is being presented to help raise needed funds for the promotion of the Malakoff Little League Baseball program during the coming summer months.
Since leaving Malakoff for California a number of years ago, David, a fine musician even in his youth, has continued his efforts toward a successful musical career and his program, “An Evening with David Dodd,” has been featured in the San Francisco area of California.
In the Earl Wood’s House of Fine Foods in San Francisco David has been featured on regular occasions. His musical experience includes stage appearances with Debbie Reynolds, Eddie Cantor, Connie Stevens, and Bobby Darin. His talents on these occasions, according to a San Francisco columnist, were of a featured presentation. Another columnist said, “Dave Dodd, a peninsula favorite entertainer, is keeping Earl Wood’s entertainment bar filled with the best decorations a club can have, customers.” At another night club, Smiling“Mac” McDowell, was credited by a columnist as having another “hit” in the person of David Dodd, entertaining at the piano and organ. “This lad,” the writer said, “is great!” The forthcoming musical presentation by Mr. Dodd is being heralded by local Rotarians as one of the outstanding entertainment features being offered in Malakoff this season.
Tickets for this musical feature are now being offered for sale by the Rotary Club, the local sponsoring organization. The entire proceeds, it was announced, will go into the treasury of the Little League and will be used for baseball equipment and field improvement in preparation of the summer baseball program in Malakoff.
