The approaching marriage of Miss Evelyn Gish Weir, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy I. Weir, Sr. Malakoff, and Robert Merlee Doby, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Doby, Longview, was announced Saturday afternoon at a tea given by her mother at her home, 420 West Mitcham. The wedding will take place December 25.
Miss Weir attended Danforth Pharmacy School in Ft. Worth and later passed the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. She completed her Freshman and Sophomore work at Baylor University where she was a member of the Baylor Little Theater, and now she is doing her Junior work at E. T. S. T. C. Commerce, where she is a member of Omicron Kappa Kappa.
Mr. Doby has attended E. T. S. T. C. for the past two years, and he is now a Junior in the institution. He is a member of the Friar Club.
Announcing the engagement of Miss Evelyn Gish Weir to Robert Merlee Doby of Longview, Mrs. Roy Weir entertained Saturday afternoon at her home from 3 to 5 o’clock. Miss Weir is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Weir, 420 West Mitcham, Malakoff, and Mr. Doby is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Doby, Longview.
The wedding will take place December 25 at the home of the bride with Rev. Jared Cartlidge of Grand Saline officiating.
The table at Mrs. Weir’s tea was mirror topped and centered with fruit and autumn leaves, yellow chrysanthemums being used for the remainder of the decorations.
Miss Nevada Hyde, Port Arthur, Texas, and Mrs. Roy Weir, Jr. Malakoff, Texas, presided at the silver service.
The one hundred guests who called were received by the hostess, and honoree, Miss Faynelle Kilgore, Miss Jewell Johnson, Miss Eleanor Hall, and Miss Winifred Weir, assisting.
The cards, on which the announcement of the wedding date was inscribed, were placed on the refreshment plate.
