A “Bit” of Looking Back – Malakoff Boys Meet in San Francisco (April, 1944)

Malakoff Boys Meet in San Francisco

From The Malakoff News
Friday, April 21, 1944

Two Malakoff boys, now representing the United States Army and Navy, got together in California recently to talk over old times in “The Lignite City.”  They are, pictured above, Troy Whitener, AMM 3/c, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Whitener, and Pvt. Freddie Cude, Army Air Force, son of Mrs. Josie Cude.

The meeting took place in Bell,California, suburb of San Francisco, where the above picture was taken, at the home of Whitener’s sister, Mrs. Clifford Smith.  The meeting, according to a recent letter received by Mrs. A. T. Whitener, was accidental, as both boys “happened” to call at the same time, for a visit with the family.
